About

UKE Can Do It! was founded by music teacher Philip Tamberino in 2014 and is currently the largest internet community of school ukulele teachers. It is aimed at providing resources and support for teachers in the expanding use of ukulele in music education worldwide.

Philip Tamberino is an elementary classroom and instrumental music teacher and has been a passionate advocate for the ukulele in schools for over a decade. Through researching the few school ukulele programs in existence worldwide during the mid-2000s, he developed the first known classroom ukulele programs in the New York metro area, beginning in his own classrooms. In 2010 he began providing professional development in ukulele program building and pedagogy through seminal workshops for the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), Long Island University at Post College, and local school districts. These workshops became the basis of the teacher's text Uke Can Do It!: Developing Your School Ukulele Program published by NAfME in 2014. In 2016 he wrote and designed the student method book Uke Can Do It 2!: Classroom Ukulele Method, also published by NAfME, which debuted as the #1 best-selling new ukulele book on Amazon.com.
